P-Square: Why Peter, Paul may never reunite — Eldest brother Henry

Henry Okoye, the eldest brother of former P-Square members Peter and Paul Okoye, has expressed doubts that the estranged twins will reconcile, despite his desire to see them reunite.

Henry spoke during an interview with social commentator Jos Connection at the family’s home in Plateau State, where he discussed the ongoing dispute involving Peter, Paul and their elder brother, Jude Okoye.

While acknowledging Peter’s reported efforts to resolve the family dispute, Henry said the issues between the brothers had become difficult to overcome.

“I will be happy for them to come back together but I don’t think it will happen. Paul was a very kind person,” he said.

Henry also appealed to Paul to forgive Peter, recalling the support he said Peter had provided during a difficult period in his life. He said he had followed Peter’s accounts of the events that led to the current dispute.

“Peter is trying. I don’t know if Jude used juju on Paul because he was the nicest person in the family before. But the way he changed is surprising. What is happening now is my prayer. I watched all Peter’s series on what transpired,” he said.

The eldest Okoye sibling also revisited financial disagreements within the family, alleging that he was promised a share of the group’s earnings when the brothers began making money from music but that the arrangement changed after Jude became involved in the group’s management.

“They promised me 20 per cent when they start making money. Jude intervened and dismissed that. I challenged him that he wasn’t there when we started everything but now chasing everybody away from them,” Henry alleged.

He further claimed that Peter once directed him to Jude regarding money he believed was owed to him.

“Peter said I should meet Jude, he’s the one holding my money. I want all the family to come back. I have tried my best,” he said.

Henry said he had sought the intervention of others, including businessman Shehu Dantata, but that his efforts had not resolved the dispute. He urged the brothers to set aside their differences and work towards restoring the family relationship.

The comments come amid the prolonged dispute involving Peter, Paul and Jude over the management of P-Square’s finances and royalties. Peter and Paul initially separated in 2017 before reuniting in 2021, but their relationship deteriorated again in 2024.

Peter subsequently accused Jude of financial misconduct and alleged that P-Square royalties were diverted through another company. Jude was later arraigned by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission over alleged financial crimes involving more than N1.38 billion, $1 million and £34,537.59. He pleaded not guilty to the charges.

Peter has testified in the case, while Paul has defended Jude and maintained that he believes the allegations against their elder brother are unfounded.

With the dispute continuing in public and through legal proceedings, Henry said he still hopes for a family reconciliation but is uncertain whether Peter and Paul can restore their former relationship.
