Soludo Can Never Match Peter Obi’s Popularity, Senator Victor Umeh Says

Senator Victor Umeh has said that former Anambra State Governor Peter Obi remains more popular than incumbent Governor Chukwuma Soludo, both in Nigeria and internationally.

Umeh made the remarks during an appearance on Channels Television on Tuesday night, October 27, 2026, while discussing the political differences between the two figures.

“Today, no matter what Soludo does, Peter Obi will continue to become more popular than him, both in Nigeria and in Anambra State,” Umeh said.

His comments come amid disagreements between Soludo and Obi over the former governor’s record in office, including claims that he left Anambra State debt-free.

Soludo has also backed President Bola Tinubu’s re-election bid and urged South-East voters not to support Obi in the 2027 presidential election.

Umeh further maintained that Obi won the 2023 presidential election, arguing that he would emerge victorious if a free and fair election were conducted in Nigeria today.
