Akorede Babatunde Okunola, professionally known as Saheed Osupa, is a Nigerian Fuji musician, songwriter, and actor born on August 7, 1969, in Ajegunle, Lagos State, Nigeria. He is a native of Ibadan, Oyo State, and is widely regarded as one of the most intelligent and philosophically driven Fuji artists of his generation.
Saheed Osupa began his musical journey at a young age, drawing inspiration from Fuji pioneers such as Ayinde Barrister. His deep lyrical style, rich Yoruba proverbs, and socially conscious themes quickly distinguished him within the Fuji genre. He rose to prominence in the late 1990s and early 2000s with a series of successful albums that showcased his poetic delivery and mastery of traditional Fuji rhythms.
Often referred to as the “King of Quotable Lyrics,” Saheed Osupa has released dozens of albums, including notable projects like Mr. Music, Transparency, State of the Nation, Respect, and Non-Stop.
