Wasiu Ayinde Marshal, popularly known as K1 De Ultimate and also referred to as Kwam 1, is a Nigerian Fuji musician, songwriter, and performer. He was born on March 3, 1957, in Agarawu, Lagos Island, Lagos State, Nigeria. an indigene from Ijebu-Ode, Ogun State, Nigeria.
K1 De Ultimate is widely regarded as one of the most influential figures in Fuji music history. He began his professional music career in the early 1970s under the mentorship of the legendary Fuji pioneer Sikiru Ayinde Barrister, but later developed his own modernized style that helped expand Fuji music beyond its traditional roots.
In 1980, he released his debut album Iba, which marked the beginning of a highly successful career spanning decades. Through albums such as Talazo Fuji Music, Consolidation, and Fuji Classical, K1 became known for blending traditional Fuji with elements of juju, Afrobeat, and contemporary African sounds.
Nicknamed βMayegun of Yorubalandβ, K1 De Ultimate is celebrated for his energetic live performances, cultural influence, and role in taking Fuji music to international audiences. He remains one of the most commercially successful and respected indigenous musicians in Nigeria.
