Governor Seyi Makinde Speaks After Casting His Vote at PDP South West Zonal Congress in Ibadan

Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, has shared his thoughts following his participation in the South West Zonal Congress of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), which was held on Wednesday in Ibadan.

After casting his vote, Governor Makinde took to his verified Facebook page to express hope for the future of the party. He stated, “I’ve fulfilled my obligation to the party and to our people. What we are doing here is strengthening democracy within our region.” He also praised the smooth conduct of the congress and applauded party members for maintaining a peaceful and transparent atmosphere.
The event, hosted at Jogor Centre, gathered PDP delegates and key stakeholders from across the South West to elect new zonal executives. Seen as a pivotal moment for the party, the congress is expected to play a major role in shaping the PDP’s direction ahead of the 2027 elections.
Governor Makinde, who is one of the leading voices in the party, reaffirmed his commitment to promoting internal democracy. He called for unity, saying, “We are building a stronger, more inclusive party that will reflect the will of the people.” He urged members to work together in pursuit of common goals and to continue strengthening the party from within.
