Man Returns to Find His Range Rover ‘Written Off’ After Leaving It at Airport Meet and Greet Car Park
A man was stunned to find his car ‘written off’ After returning from his holiday, leaving it with a meet and greet service at Manchester Airport.
Ioan Williams, who had driven his white Range Rover to the airport on 9 August for a family trip to Alicante with his children, Ela and Sion, said his vehicle was in perfect condition when he handed it over. However, a week later, on 16 August, he was informed of an “incident” involving his car upon returning to Manchester.
Initially expecting minor damage, Ioan was shocked to discover that the driver’s side wheel was at an odd angle, indicating a significant impact. He recalled that when he picked up his keys, an attendant informed him that one of their drivers had “kerbed” the wheel. When he went to inspect the car, he found it severely damaged.
The vehicle was undrivable, and Ioan and his family had to take a taxi home, finally arriving at 5 a.m. Despite assistance from his insurance company, the cost of repairs, nearly £16,000, rendered the car a write-off.
Although Manchester Airport refunded the £149.99 parking fee, Ioan expressed frustration that he had not received an apology or compensation offer. He vowed never to use the airport’s meet and greet service again.
A spokesperson from Manchester Airport confirmed that discussions with the customer were ongoing, and their insurers were working to resolve the matter. While they couldn’t comment on specifics, they assured that they had been in contact with Mr. Williams to apologize for the inconvenience.
