DJ Kulet Opens Up on Financial Struggles During Education

Nigerian disc jockey Kudirat Gbemisola Salami, popularly known as DJ Kulet, has spoken about the financial challenges she faced while trying to sponsor her education.
In a video shared on Wasilacoded TV’s YouTube channel, DJ Kulet recounted her struggles as a student and the limited financial support she received during that period.
“I was working as a disc jockey, and I didn’t have any alternative source of income to sponsor myself to school,” she said. “The men I used to have sex with only paid me from ₦5,000 to ₦10,000. The money wasn’t enough to buy my textbooks or pay my tuition fees.”
She added that her mother paid her first school fees, but she later took responsibility for funding her National Diploma (ND) and Higher National Diploma (HND) programs at the polytechnic.
DJ Kulet’s remarks shed light on her early career struggles and efforts to balance work, education, and personal survival.
