Chike and Mohbad’s ‘Egwu’ Achieves 1 Million Views Within a Day of Release

Chike released the music video of Egwu which honours the late Mohbad on February 29, 2024. The smash hit received one million views in less than 24 hours of its release. Currently, the music video has 1.4 million views on YouTube.

Directed by Nigeria’s female director, Director Pink, the video creatively incorporates visuals and scenes commemorating Mohbad during his posthumous verses. Even the King of Afrobeat, Davido endorsed the song. Davido shared a snapshot suggesting he was streaming the track on his car device. Alongside the image, he expressed his love for the song with the caption, “Chai (with a love emoji).”

The music star received the Number 1 plaque for his chart-topping song Egwu, featuring the late Mohbad. Egwu claimed the Number 1 position on the Official Nigeria Top 100, marking Chike’s inaugural entry at the top of the official singles chart in Nigeria.
