Nasty C
Nsikayesizwe David Junior Ngcobo, professionally known as Nasty C, is a South African rapper, songwriter, and record producer. He was born on February 11, 1997, in Diepkloof, Soweto, Johannesburg, South Africa, and was raised in Durban, KwaZulu-Natal.
Nasty C developed an interest in music at an early age, learning the basics of music production from his older brother. He gained recognition with his mixtapes One Kid, a Thousand Coffins (2012) and Price City (2015), the latter featuring the breakthrough single Juice Back. The remix of the song, featuring Davido and Cassper Nyovest, further elevated his profile across Africa.
In 2016, he released his debut studio album, Bad Hair, which became a commercial success in South Africa and established him as one of the country’s leading hip-hop artists. He followed it with Strings and Bling (2018), featuring hit singles such as Jungle, King, and SMA. The album further expanded his audience across the African continent.
In 2020, Nasty C signed a joint venture with Def Jam Recordings and later joined Def Jam Africa, becoming one of the label’s flagship artists. He released his third studio album, Zulu Man with Some Power, the same year, featuring collaborations with T.I., Ari Lennox, Lil Keed, and other international artists. He has since continued his global rise with projects including Ivyson Army (2022) and I Love It Here (2023).
Widely regarded as one of Africa’s most influential rappers of his generation, Nasty C is known for his lyrical versatility, melodic delivery, and international collaborations, earning acclaim both within Africa and on the global hip-hop scene.
