Olumide Ogunade, known professionally as ID Cabasa, is a Nigerian record producer, songwriter, and record executive. He was born on July 29, 1975, in Lagos State, Nigeria. He is best known for his work in Afrobeats and Nigerian hip-hop and for his role in the development of several artists associated with the Coded Tunes music collective.
ID Cabasa developed an interest in music while he was a student at St. Finbarr’s College, Akoka, where he spent time observing recording sessions at Afrodicia Record Studio, formerly known as Peca. The studio had previously been associated with established Nigerian musicians, which contributed to his early exposure to music production.
He studied Economics at Lagos State University and later obtained a master’s degree in Management Economics from the University of Lagos. After briefly working in the banking sector, he turned his attention fully to music production.
In the early 2000s, ID Cabasa became closely associated with Coded Tunes, a music label and creative collective he established with collaborators including 2Phat. The platform became an important part of the early careers of artists such as Olamide, 9ice, Reminisce, Lord of Ajasa, 2Shotz and others. His production work helped shape the sound of Nigerian street-oriented hip-hop and Afrobeats during the 2000s and 2010s.
As a producer, ID Cabasa has worked across Afrobeats, hip-hop and Afropop, building a reputation for production that combines contemporary Nigerian popular music with elements of indigenous musical expression. In December 2025, he released Unfinished Business, an album produced entirely by him and featuring collaborations with a broad range of Nigerian artists.
