Alexander Abolore Adegbola Akande, known professionally as 9ice, is a Nigerian singer, songwriter, and politician. He was born on January 17, 1980, in Ogbomosho, Oyo State, Nigeria.
9ice rose to national prominence in 2008 with the release of his critically acclaimed album Gongo Aso, whose title track became one of Nigeria’s biggest indigenous crossover hits. Renowned for his use of Yoruba language, proverbs, and rich cultural storytelling, he has established himself as one of the leading figures in indigenous Nigerian music.
Over the course of his career, 9ice has released several successful albums, including Certificate, Bashorun Gaa, Versus, CNN, ID Cabasa, Tradition, and Tip of the Iceberg. His music blends Fuji, Afrobeat, hip-hop, and traditional Yoruba influences, earning him widespread recognition across Africa.
Beyond music, 9ice has also been involved in public service and politics while remaining an influential voice in Nigeria’s entertainment industry.
