Jackline Acheampong, professionally known as Gyakie, is a Ghanaian singer, songwriter, and Afro-fusion artist born on December 16, 1999, in Kumasi, Ashanti Region, Ghana. Popularly nicknamed the “Song Bird”, she is the daughter of legendary Ghanaian highlife musician Nana Acheampong and graduated with a degree in International Business from Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST).
Gyakie began her professional music career in 2019 with the release of Love Is Pretty before gaining international recognition through her debut EP Seed (2020). The EP’s breakout single Forever became a major success across Africa, topping charts in Ghana, Nigeria, and Kenya. The song’s remix featuring Nigerian star Omah Lay further expanded her global audience.
Known for her soothing vocals and signature blend of Afro-fusion, R&B, soul, and highlife influences, Gyakie has continued her rise with projects including My Diary (2022) and her debut studio album After Midnight (2025). She has collaborated with artists such as Davido, Khaid, Bisa Kdei, R2Bees, and AKA, while earning international recording deals with Sony Music Entertainment, RCA Records UK, and Sony Music Africa.
Today, Gyakie is regarded as one of Africa’s leading contemporary female artists, recognized for her soulful songwriting, distinctive voice, and growing influence across the global Afrobeats scene.
