Barry Jhay
Oluwakayode Junior Balogun, professionally known as Barry Jhay, is a Nigerian singer and songwriter. He was born on February 13, 1993, in Ibadan, Oyo State, Nigeria, and was raised in Lagos State. He hails from one of Nigeria’s most celebrated musical families, being the son of Fuji music pioneer Sikiru Ayinde Barrister (Ayinde Barrister) and the grandson of Juju music legend I.K. Dairo.
Inspired by his family’s musical legacy, Barry Jhay developed an interest in music from an early age and established his own sound by blending Afrobeats with Fuji influences. He rose to mainstream prominence in 2018 with the release of his breakthrough single Aiye, which earned widespread acclaim for its inspirational message and distinctive vocal delivery.
Following the success of Aiye, Barry Jhay released several notable singles including Go Down, Ashe She, Kabiyesi, and Muje. In 2020, he released his debut studio album Barry Back, featuring collaborations with artists such as Davido. Renowned for his emotive songwriting and Afro-Fuji fusion, Barry Jhay has established himself as one of the leading voices in contemporary Nigerian music.
