Premier League Table After Man United Came back to Beat Southampton 3-1 and Brighton Won 2-0
The English Premier League resumed its action on Thursday night after Tuesday and Wednesday games. We saw big teams drop points, with Arsenal the only top six clubs to grab a much needed three points against Tottenham Hotspur.
Liverpool, Manchester City, and Chelsea dropped points against Nottingham Forest, Brentford, and Bournemouth respectively. On Thursday night, Ipswich Town hosted Brighton and Hove Albion in Portman Road. The game was a very tough one for both teams who found it difficult to penetrate each other in the first half. Fortunately for the away side, Mitoma opened the scoring to give them the lead.
Elsewhere, Manchester United hosted Southampton at Old Trafford, their first home game of the year. United returned to default settings despite beautiful performances against Liverpool and Arsenal. Deep into the first half, the Red Devils conceded a set piece goal.
The Red Devils came back and produced an impressive and beautiful goal by Amad Diallo to equalize the game. United missed several goal-scoring opportunities which could have been converted, but the goal didn’t come until star boy Amad Diallo struck again to lift United and give them the lead.
