MCI 1-2 CHE: Chelsea’s Comeback Win Over Manchester City and WSL Standings
Chelsea maintained their unbeaten streak in the Women’s Super League with a thrilling 2-1 comeback win over Manchester City. After trailing 1-0 due to Kerolin’s goal in the 32nd minute, Chelsea responded with a strong second-half performance. Aggie Beever-Jones leveled the score in the 49th minute, and Erin Cuthbert secured the victory with a stoppage-time goal in the 91st minute.
This win keeps Chelsea firmly at the top of the WSL table as they inch closer to another league title. It was the third consecutive meeting between Chelsea and City in various competitions this month. Chelsea had previously won 2-1 in the Women’s League Cup final, but suffered a 2-0 defeat in the Champions League quarterfinals’ first leg. This WSL victory provides Chelsea with a psychological advantage heading into the second leg of their European clash, which will take place at Stamford Bridge. Both teams will be aiming to secure their European ambitions in that decisive match.
With this victory, Chelsea remain at the top of the WSL table with 47 points, comfortably ahead of Arsenal, who have 39 points in second place. Manchester United sit in third with 37 points, while Manchester City drop to fourth with 32 points. With only a few games left in the season, Chelsea are well-positioned to secure another league title, while also pushing to advance further in the Champions League.
