You’re Wasting Your Time Trying to Join APC — Baba-Ahmed Declares Labour Party as the Only Option
Dr. Yusuf Datti Baba-Ahmed, the 2023 vice-presidential candidate of the Labour Party, has made a bold statement about Nigeria’s political direction, asserting that the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) offers no room for new entrants or progressives.
Speaking in an interview aired by Symfoni TV, Baba-Ahmed positioned the Labour Party as the only inclusive and viable political platform for Nigerians seeking genuine change. He dismissed attempts to join the APC or other traditional political structures as futile, suggesting they are already overcrowded and resistant to reform.
“You are wasting your time; it’s a detachment. You cannot go into APC because there is no space for anybody,” Baba-Ahmed said, emphasizing the exclusivity and closed nature of the ruling party.
He further explained that while other parties are shrinking in accessibility, the Labour Party remains open and welcoming:
“Labour Party will continue to do that—embrace and embrace… The only option continues to remain Labour Party.”
Although Baba-Ahmed kept future plans under wraps, he hinted at upcoming developments in Nigeria’s political landscape, saying, “At the right time, I will say more. Thank you very much.”
His comments come amid growing discontent with mainstream parties and a rising desire among Nigerians for alternative political voices. Baba-Ahmed’s remarks are seen as part of a broader strategy to position Labour as a credible force ahead of future elections.
