Tinubu Appoints Kayode Opeifa as NRC Managing Director
President Bola Tinubu has appointed Dr. Kayode Opeifa as the substantive Managing Director of the Nigeria Railway Corporation (NRC), tasking him with modernizing the nation’s railway system.
Opeifa, a seasoned transportation expert, brings extensive experience, having served as Lagos State Commissioner for Transportation under Governor Babatunde Fashola. During his tenure, he spearheaded transformative initiatives that positioned Lagos as a model for urban transport in Africa.
He was later recognized by President Muhammadu Buhari, who appointed him Vice-Chairman of the Presidential Task Team to address the Apapa gridlock and also served as Transport Secretary for the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
Opeifa succeeds Ben Iloanusi, who served as acting Managing Director, and is expected to lead significant reforms to enhance Nigeria’s railway network.
