In a confrontational media broadcast by Symfoni TV, Umahi directly addressed the engineer in charge of a key project. “You will report unfailingly to my office on Monday and meet my permanent secretary on Monday,” he ordered, adding, “I will use you to set an example of how not to be very funny with public funds.”
The minister extended his warning to other contractors, announcing impending administrative action. “For the other two contractors who are in charge of the other projects, this is the last warning I’m giving to you,” he stated. “I will direct a query on all three of you, and this is going to be continuous because you do not know what you are doing.”
Umahi set clear expectations for the upcoming meeting, demanding, “On Monday, you must come up with the program of work, and when you come, you will collect your queries.”
Reflecting on past challenges, the minister took a firm stance on future performance: “I’m not going to pass through what I passed through last year. Anybody that’s not prepared to work for the government must leave.”

The Minister’s tough actions is as a result of the Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration resolve to inaugurate some road projects between next month and May.
