Navy Officer Confronts FCT Officials Over Attempted Demolition of Ex-Naval Chief’s Property

Lieutenant A.M. Yerima of the Nigerian Navy has drawn public attention after confronting officials of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Administration during an attempted demolition of a property belonging to former Chief of Naval Staff, Vice Admiral Awwal Zubairu Gambo (rtd).
In a video shared by Channels Television, Yerima was seen leading a team of naval personnel to stop the operation, which was reportedly ordered by the FCT Administration over alleged land use violations.
The footage captured a heated exchange between Yerima and a police officer at the scene. In the viral clip, the visibly agitated naval officer declared, “You cannot shut me up. Look at you, you are my junior; you cannot even talk when I’m talking.”
Eyewitnesses said Yerima and his team prevented the demolition crew from gaining access to the property, located in an upscale area of Abuja.
As of press time, neither the Nigerian Navy nor the office of the FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike, had issued an official statement regarding the incident.
