Lere Olayinka Accuses Femi Falana of Misrepresenting Facts on Rivers Leadership Crisis
Lere Olayinka, Senior Special Assistant on New Media and Public Communications to former Rivers State Governor and current FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike, has criticized legal practitioner Femi Falana (SAN) for allegedly making inaccurate claims during a recent interview on Channels Television.
Taking to X (formerly Twitter), Olayinka argued that Falana misrepresented the details of a court ruling related to the ongoing Rivers State leadership tussle. He clarified that the 2024 budget was not the sole issue decided by Justice James Omotosho of the Federal High Court in case No: FHC/ABJ/CS/1613/2023, which was later upheld by the Supreme Court.
Olayinka stated, “Oga Femi Falana went to Channels TV to Lie! The Rivers State 2024 Budget was not the only issue decided by Justice Omotosho. An ORDER of INJUNCTION was granted restraining Governor Fubara or his hirelings from impeding or frustrating the Rivers State House of Assembly under the leadership of the 2nd Plaintiff (Martins Amaewhule) as Speaker.”
This development adds to the heated political tension in Rivers State, where the legitimacy of the state’s Assembly leadership remains a contentious issue.
