Kenneth Okonkwo: Yakasai Reveals He Couldn’t Find Car Spare Parts After Igbos Left the North During June 12

Kenneth Okonkwo, a lawyer, emphasized the importance of unity and peaceful coexistence among Nigeria’s diverse ethnic groups.In a video shared by Arise TV, Okonkwo shared a story about an elderly man from Kano, Yakasai.
He explained that during the June 12, 1993 crisis, when Igbos left the Northern region of Nigeria, Yakasai struggled to find the spare parts he needed to fix his car.Okonkwo said that Yakasai’s experience highlighted the interdependence of Nigeria’s ethnic groups.
This situation helped him understand that the various communities across the country are essential to one another’s survival. Okonkwo quoted Yakasai, saying, “During the June 12 period, when the Igbos left the north, I couldn’t find the spare part I needed for my car. This showed me that we truly need each other in this country.” He underscored that collaboration and unity are key to Nigeria’s progress.
