Governor Oborevwori Visits Tinubu at Aso Rock Following Defection to APC
Delta State Governor Sheriff Oborevwori made his first official visit to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu at the Presidential Villa in Abuja on Tuesday, days after his high-profile switch from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
The governor arrived at Aso Rock around 3:30 p.m., where he was received by senior aides before heading into a closed-door meeting with the President. Although specific details of their conversation have not been disclosed, the visit is widely seen as a formal move to cement his new political alignment with the ruling party.
Oborevwori’s defection, which took place last week, has stirred political tensions in Delta State—a region long considered a stronghold of the PDP. His move is being viewed as a strategic gain for the APC as it aims to expand its footprint in the South-South geopolitical zone.
The visit to President Tinubu is expected to pave the way for closer collaboration between Delta State and the federal government under the APC-led administration.
