Breaking: President Tinubu and Osinbajo Reunite at Africa Energy Summit in Tanzania
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and former Vice President Yemi Osinbajo had a significant meeting on Tuesday in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania. The encounter occurred on the sidelines of the Africa Heads of State Energy Summit, where President Tinubu was present to represent Nigeria.
The summit, organized by the Tanzanian government in partnership with the African Development Bank Group and the World Bank, focuses on the ambitious “Mission 300” initiative. This program aims to provide electricity access to 300 million Africans by 2030.
Key topics at the summit include strategies for expanding energy access in underserved areas, promoting renewable energy and energy efficiency, and encouraging private sector investments to boost the continent’s energy development.
The meeting between Tinubu and Osinbajo is noteworthy, given their political history. The former vice president, once a close associate of Tinubu, contested against him in the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential primary in 2022. Tinubu eventually emerged victorious with 1,271 votes, defeating Osinbajo, Rotimi Amaechi, and other contenders.
This meeting signals a potential moment of reconciliation or collaboration between the two leaders on advancing Africa’s energy agenda.
