2027 Presidency: Peter Obi Unlikely to Run Under Labour Party – Ozigbo
Former Anambra governorship candidate Valentine Ozigbo has claimed that if Peter Obi contests in the 2027 presidential election, he will not do so under the Labour Party (LP).
Speaking on Channels Television’s Politics Today, Ozigbo stated, “I can almost guarantee that if he (Obi) wishes to run, it will not be under the Labour Party.” While he clarified that he is not Obi’s spokesperson, he hinted at ongoing discussions about possible political coalitions.
Ozigbo also defended his decision to leave the LP for the APC, arguing that he prioritizes “due process” over party loyalty. He dismissed claims that he frequently switches parties for personal gain, emphasizing that his moves are based on strategic political decisions.
Reflecting on his past support for Obi, Ozigbo maintained that he had no regrets but suggested that Labour Party’s recent struggles indicate its decline. He concluded, “If Labour is dying, I should not die with Labour.”
