2027 Presidency: Nobody Losing Sleep Over Jonathan’s Return – Baba-Ahmed
Hakeem Baba-Ahmed, former Special Adviser on Political Matters to President Bola Tinubu, has dismissed speculation surrounding former President Goodluck Jonathan’s potential return to politics, describing it as insignificant in the current national discourse.
Speaking in an interview on Channels TV, Baba-Ahmed stated that the possibility of Jonathan contesting the 2027 presidential election is not something most Nigerians are concerned about. He emphasized that the public is far more preoccupied with pressing national issues like economic instability, rising insecurity, and poor governance.
“I don’t know if Jonathan is planning to run again, and frankly, I don’t think the idea should be treated as something serious,” he said. “I’m regularly in touch with people who shape and reflect public opinion, and I don’t think anyone is overly bothered by whether Jonathan runs or not.”
He argued that the narrative around Jonathan’s potential political comeback is more of a distraction than a genuine concern. Baba-Ahmed urged political stakeholders to shift their attention away from rumors and instead concentrate on resolving the country’s critical challenges.
In his words, the talk about Jonathan’s return “serves no constructive purpose” and only detracts from the urgent need to address the real issues Nigerians are facing.
