Wike Apologizes for Spoiling Birthday Celebration During Friendly Visit
In a major step toward advancing infrastructure in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), the FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike, recently launched the Arterial Road N5 construction project. The launch drew numerous political figures, highlighting its significance.
Among the attendees were key House of Assembly members, the Senate President, and senior military officials. The event was broadcast live by Channels TV.Minister Wike outlined the careful vetting process followed to comply with Nigeria’s procurement laws for a project of this scale, noting that rigorous checks were conducted to ensure all standards were met before the final go-ahead.
He confirmed that Julius Berger Construction, a renowned company in Nigeria’s infrastructure sector, was selected for the project.The minister thanked the high-profile guests, crediting their collaboration, along with President Bola Ahmed Tinubuâs commitment to FCT infrastructure, for the swift approval and start of the project.
During his speech, Wike shared a light-hearted story involving the outgoing Managing Director of Julius Berger, whom he visited recently to celebrate the MDâs wife’s birthday. As a Real Madrid fan, Wike received a Borussia Dortmund jersey from the MD. In a humorous twist, Real Madrid later defeated Borussia Dortmund, reversing a 2-0 deficit to win 5-2. Laughing about the friendly rivalry, Wike apologized to the MD for spoiling his day.
