Troops kill two Sokoto terrorists
The Nigerian army says its troops on operation in North West Nigeria have killed two terrorists while protecting Damba Dikko in Illela Local Government Area of Sokoto State.
The troops also rescued two villagers in the encounter that occurred on Wednesday, March 6.
Disclosing this in a statement on Thursday, was Army spokesperson, Maj.-Gen. Onyema Nwachukwu.
Nwachukwu said the Army medical personnel were attending to villagers who suffered injuries during the encounter.
He also said troops on operation in South South Nigeria rescued four kidnap victims abducted in Edo State.
According to him the victims included a lady and three men. He said the kidnappers were tracked by the troops who engaged them in firefight before rescuing the victims.
He said: “The troops apprehended one of the kidnappers, who is currently undergoing preliminary investigation and will be subsequently handed over to the appropriate prosecuting agency.
“One of the rescued victims who suffered from shock and fatigue has been evacuated to a medical facility, where he is receiving treatment, while others have been handed over to their families.”
