Tragedy in Akwa Ibom: Man Butchers Wife in Shocking Attack

A once-peaceful community in Orun Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State was left in shock after 38-year-old Mrs. Victoria Omoh was brutally killed by her husband, Victor Okoh, in the early hours of the morning.

According to a report by NTA, the horrific incident took place between 3:00 am and 5:00 am. Neighbors were startled by Victoria’s desperate cries for help and rushed to the scene, only to find Victor attacking her with a machete. Efforts to intervene were unsuccessful as he threatened anyone who tried to come close.

One witness recounted, “I ran down when I heard the noise and saw Victor still using the machete on his wife. They never had any quarrel before.”

Victoria’s mother, a widow, was devastated by the news. Initially, she believed it was just a minor dispute. “I thought it was an ordinary fight. But before my brother arrived, he told me my daughter had been butchered by her husband,” she said.

She described Victoria as a kind and peaceful woman, loved by her family, community, and church. “Since they got married, I never received any reports of problems between them. Everyone in the family, the community, and even the church can testify to her good character.”

The police have confirmed Victor’s arrest as he attempted to flee. He reportedly claimed that he attacked his wife due to suspicions of infidelity. Meanwhile, family members and residents are demanding justice for Victoria.
