Three Rescued, One Trapped After Building Under Construction Collapses in Kano

A two-storey building under construction on Sultan Road in the Nasarawa Local Government Area of Kano State collapsed on Friday morning, leaving four people trapped beneath the rubble.

The incident occurred at about 9 a.m., according to eyewitnesses.

Witnesses said construction workers noticed signs of structural failure while working on the upper floor and evacuated the building before it collapsed. However, four people, including a security guard and a tricycle rider, were caught in the incident.

Confirming the development to Daily Trust, one of the workers, Shuaibu Yaro, said three victims had been rescued while efforts were ongoing to reach the fourth person.

“We came to work here and had started taking sand upstairs when the site engineer noticed the signs of collapse. We rushed to safety, but unfortunately three people were in front of the gate and one other person was trapped,” Yaro said.

“Three have been rescued, including the security guard and his friend, while one person remains trapped.”

According to Yaro, the rescued victims sustained injuries and were taken to Sir Muhammadu Sanusi Hospital in Kano for treatment.

Rescue operations were still ongoing at the site as of the time of filing this report.
