Siminalayi Fubara Responds to Reports of Another Gas Plant Explosion in Rivers State
Governor Siminalayi Fubara of Rivers State has responded to reports claiming that another explosion has occurred at an oil and gas facility in the state.
According to reports on Monday, Fubara dismissed the reports as baseless. His reaction comes in the wake of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s decision to suspend him, his deputy Ngozi Odu, and all members of the Rivers State House of Assembly, replacing him with Ibokette Ibas.
Addressing the alleged explosion, the governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Nelson Chukwudi, stated that the videos circulating online were fake. He also distanced Governor Fubara from any links to militant groups or individuals trying to destabilize the state.
“For the avoidance of doubt, Governor Siminalayi Fubara has no link to any militant group. Does not contemplate any such association and has no reason to encourage any criminal group or elements, anywhere in the state or Niger Delta, to undertake any action inimical to the peace of the people,” Chukwudi said.
Governor Fubara’s administration remains committed to maintaining peace and stability in Rivers
