Political Analyst Challenges Ekiti Court’s Role in Dele Farotimi’s Bail Ruling.
In a video posted on News Central TV’s official X account on Sunday, political analyst Hassan Taiwo criticized the Ekiti State Magistrate Court’s decision to grant bail to human rights activist Dele Farotimi.
Taiwo argued that the court lacked jurisdiction over Farotimi’s case.
The court had granted Farotimi a N30 million bail, ordered him to provide two sureties, and imposed a restriction on him from giving public interviews.
Taiwo, however, condemned the ruling, stating that criminal defamation is not recognized under the laws of Ekiti State.
He further added, “The magistrate court that granted him this bail does not even have the jurisdiction over his case. Criminal defamation is not even part of the laws in Ekiti. This court is trying someone for a non-existent crime.”
