In the post that the former governor of Anambra state made on his page, he said such unpleasant news came at a time when he was mourning the loss of lives in the boat accident that happened in River Niger.
Peter Obi stated that the fire incident destroyed goods and properties worth millions of naira.
He however, appreciated the emergency response team who arrived at the scene to stop the fire from escalating.
Here is what Peter Obi wrote on his page;
“Amidst the very busy activities of the day, I still had to contend with the sad news of a fire outbreak at the famous spare parts market in Idumota, Lagos state. Such unpleasant news came while still mourning the loss of lives in the boat accident that occurred in River Niger, plus a very troubling report of another boat mishap in Kogi State, where many lives were also lost. While I appreciate our emergency response teams who arrived at the scene of the inferno to prevent further escalation of the fire, I also commiserate with the victims of this tragic incident”.
