In a major crackdown on drug trafficking, the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), Kano State Command, has arrested a 75-year-old man, Nuhu Baba, in Tumbau Village, Gezawa Local Government Area of Kano State.
The operation led to the seizure of several illicit substances, including Tramadol, Cannabis Sativa, Diazepam, Exol-5, and rubber solution.
According to NDLEA Spokesperson, Sadiq Maigatari, preliminary investigations revealed that the elderly suspect had been involved in drug trafficking for over two years, relying on it as a source of income. His confession highlights the alarming reality that drug-related crimes cut across all age groups.
Speaking on the arrest, Kano State NDLEA Commander, CN AI Ahmad, reaffirmed the agency’s commitment to eradicating drug abuse and trafficking in the state.
“This case serves as a stark reminder of how deeply substance abuse has penetrated our communities. The fight against drug trafficking requires the active involvement of every citizen,” Ahmad stated.
He urged residents to remain vigilant and report any suspicious drug-related activities to the authorities.
The NDLEA Kano State Command continues to intensify efforts to combat drug-related crimes and protect public health and safety.
