“I killed Her Because We Don’t Spend Enough Time Together” Timileyin Ajayi Confesses
As reported by Channels Television, the Nasarawa State Police Command has detained 32-year-old Timileyin Ajayi for the murder of Salome Eleojo Adaidu, a 24-year-old member of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC). Salome was serving with Nicon Insurance in Abuja when she was killed during a visit to Ajayi’s home in the Papalana area of New Karshi, Karu Local Government Area of Nasarawa State.
Timileyin Ajayi was arrested on January 12 after attempting to dispose of Salome’s dismembered remains. Eyewitnesses and community members identified him before turning him over to the police. Ajayi later confessed to the crime, stating that it was a spontaneous act driven by personal betrayal.
In an interview, Ajayi explained, “I killed her because we don’t spend enough time together. It wasn’t something I planned—it happened in the heat of the moment. She was hiding things from me, and I discovered her interactions with other men on her phone. That’s what led to my decision.” Despite his confession, Ajayi stated he has no regrets, believing his actions were justified due to their incompatibility.
Salome’s family has called for justice, expressing shock and grief over the brutal manner in which she was killed. Her elder sister, Esther Adaidu, stated, “We don’t know this man. We heard about what happened through the police. My sister’s life was taken, and we demand justice for her.”
The Nasarawa State Police have assured the public that a thorough investigation is underway. Police Public Relations Officer, SP Ramhan Nansel, emphasized, “We are committed to ensuring that this case is thoroughly investigated. Justice will be served, and if found guilty, the suspect will face the full weight of the law.”
The tragic incident has raised concerns over the safety and security of young professionals and members of the NYSC program, prompting calls for increased vigilance and protection of vulnerable individuals.
