Godswill Akpabio cautions Senator for Complimenting Bianca Ojukwu’s Looks During Screening.

Senate President Godswill Akpabio chided Senator Osita Ngwu for complimenting Bianca Odumegwu-Ojukwu’s looks during her ministerial screening on October 30, 2024. Bianca, a skilled diplomat and former beauty queen, was one of seven nominees interviewed for the role of Minister of State for Foreign Affairs.

When the session allowed for questions, Ngwu, who represents Enugu West, began by praising Bianca’s appearance. Akpabio humorously interrupted, saying, “Stick to her qualifications. She didn’t list beauty on her CV.” This remark drew laughter from the other senators, after which Ngwu shifted his focus to highlighting Bianca’s professional qualifications.Senator Enyinnaya Abaribe from Abia South also voiced his support for Bianca, applauding President Bola Tinubu for including a member of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) in his cabinet, which he viewed as a move towards fostering national unity.

Bianca Ojukwu has a strong background in diplomacy, having held positions such as Nigeria’s Ambassador to Ghana and Spain, and serving as the country’s permanent representative to the United Nations World Tourism Organization.

She was also appointed as Senior Special Assistant on Diaspora Affairs by former President Goodluck Jonathan.The screening ended with Bianca taking a bow, indicating her progress in the nomination process.
