Delta Police Confirm Identity of Young Woman Found Dead in Asaba

A preliminary investigation revealed that on October 22, 2024, Yusuf had told a friend she was going to meet a man she had connected with on a dating website.Police in Delta State have identified the body of a young woman discovered last week on DLA Road in Asaba.

The victim has been identified as 23-year-old Miss Precious Yusuf, according to a statement from the state police spokesperson, SP Bright Edafe.The investigation showed that Yusuf had informed a friend on October 22, 2024, that she was planning to meet someone she had recently met online in the Coka area.

The next day, Yusuf contacted the same friend, saying she was on her way home, but she was not heard from again.“On October 24, 2024, at around 8:40 a.m., a distress call reported the discovery of a young woman’s body on DLA Road, across from Falcon Club,” Edafe said.

Police officers responded to the scene, where they confirmed the woman’s identity.Her body has been taken to the morgue for an autopsy, and Delta State Commissioner of Police, Olufemi Abaniwonda, has pledged to ensure justice for her.

The Commissioner urged young women to exercise caution when meeting people through social media platforms.
