Chief of Defense Staff: Terrorist Leader Turji in Panic Mode

The Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), Gen. Christopher Musa, revealed that notorious terrorist leader Bello Turji is in a state of panic as a result of intensified military operations targeting terrorists in the North West.
Speaking during the News Agency of Nigeria’s first Annual International Lecture in Abuja on Thursday, Musa explained that the recent killing of Halilu Buzu, a key terrorist commander and Turji’s mentor, has unsettled Turji and his gang.
Musa pointed out that Turji’s current behavior reflects fear, noting, “You can see from his actions that he is panicking. He used to act boldly, speaking as though he was in full control, but now he knows that’s no longer the case.
With Buzu dead, Turji knows his time is running out, and all his recent activity is just noise.”
The CDS emphasized that Turji has crossed a line and that military efforts will continue until the terrorists are defeated. He acknowledged that poverty, illiteracy, and poor governance in the region contribute to the persistence of insecurity, as many unemployed youths are easily recruited into terrorist groups.
Musa also highlighted the challenge posed by Nigeria’s porous borders, particularly the 1,500 kilometers shared with Niger Republic, through which people move freely in and out. Efforts, he said, are being made to secure these borders and prevent terrorist movement.
