Breaking: Gov. Chukwuma Soludo Vows to Arrest Anyone Impersonating Anambra Community Monarch
Anambra State Governor, Chukwuma Soludo, has annulled an election that was allegedly conducted by the Oba community in the Idemili South Local Government Area for the purpose of selecting a new traditional ruler.
This election was organized to succeed the late monarch, Igwe PC Ezenwa, and reportedly took place on Saturday. However, it contravened an ongoing legal matter being adjudicated by a court of competent jurisdiction, initiated by certain stakeholders in the issue.
Tony Collins Nwabunwanne, the Commissioner for Local Government, Chieftaincy, and Community Matters, communicated this decision to the press on behalf of the governor from his office.
He warned that any individual claiming to have been elected from this disputed election and attempting to present themselves as the monarch of the Oba community or as a monarch-elect would face arrest.
Nwabunwanne remarked, “As Christmas approaches, our people are returning home for the festive season. This period often sees many communities hosting events, bestowing chieftaincy titles, and conducting elections to appoint their Presidents General and traditional rulers.”
