Portable Drops Diss Track for Asake Over Grammy Loss
Nigerian singer Portable has released a song targeting Afrobeats star Asake following his loss at the 67th Grammy Awards. On February 2, 2025, Tems won the Best African Music Performance award, beating Asake, Davido, Yemi Alade, and Burna Boy.
Portable criticized Asake and Davido for allowing a female artist to surpass them, claiming he could have easily won the award himself. He also mocked Asake’s Grammy outfit—a camouflage jacket and pants—saying it didn’t bring him luck.
In the diss track, Portable sang:
“No be end of world. It is just a Grammy. My glory go kill my enemies. Grammy ti wa taja teran. Your papa no be army. O lo wosho army. You wan collect Grammy Your papa no be army. O lo wosho army. Ofe fi gba Grammy and your papa no be army. Better go join academy Mr Money. E mi mon reign, E oni brain. Mofu jo Lil Wayne.”
This isn’t the first time Portable has clashed with Asake. In January, he warned fans against comparing them after Asake debuted a new look with shorter hair and facial tattoos.
Reactions from Netizens:
@PrinceAbbbey: “Shey na true say Asake wear army cloth and him papa no be army?”
