Tiwa Savage addresses controversy over leaked tape

Nigerian singer, Tiwa Savage, has spoken about the controversy surrounding her leaked intimate video, clarifying that she was not responsible for its release.
In an interview with American radio station Hot 97, the award-winning artist said she was wrongly accused of deliberately leaking the tape to gain attention and sympathy.
The incident occurred in 2021 after Tiwa Savage refused to pay off a blackmailer who had threatened to publish the video, which later went viral online.
Reflecting on the experience, the Somebody’s Son crooner described it as one of the most difficult moments of her career.
“I was bashed for my s3x video. A lot of people thought I was just trying to get sympathy. Even people with platforms were horrible and blamed me. They said I leaked it myself to stay relevant.
If I were doing that intentionally, I would have used better lighting, worn lingerie, and made sure my facial expressions were on point,” she said.
