Mohammed Ismail Sherif Kwaku Frimpong aka Black Sherif
Mohammed Ismail Sherif Kwaku Frimpong, known professionally as Black Sherif (formerly Blacko), is a Ghanaian singer, rapper, and songwriter. He was born on January 9, 2002, in Konongo-Zongo, Ashanti Region, Ghana.
Black Sherif rose to prominence in 2021 with the release of his First Sermon freestyle, which gained widespread attention across Africa. He achieved greater international recognition following the release of Second Sermon and its remix featuring Burna Boy, establishing himself as one of the continent’s most promising young artists.
In 2022, he attained global success with the hit single Kwaku the Traveller, which topped charts in multiple African countries and became a defining song of the year. The track showcased his signature blend of drill, highlife, Afrobeats, and hip-hop influences, combined with introspective storytelling and emotionally driven lyrics.
Later that year, Black Sherif released his debut studio album, The Villain I Never Was, which received critical acclaim and commercial success. The project further cemented his reputation as one of Africa’s most influential new-generation artists. He followed this with additional successful releases and international performances, earning praise for his authenticity and distinctive sound.
