Adekunle Gold first gained widespread recognition in 2015 with Sade, a highlife-inspired reinterpretation of One Direction’s Story of My Life. The song became a commercial success and led to his signing with YBNL Nation, under which he released his critically acclaimed debut album Gold (2016).
Following his departure from YBNL, Adekunle Gold continued to evolve musically with projects including About 30 (2018), Afro Pop Vol. 1 (2020), Catch Me If You Can (2022), and Tequila Ever After (2023).
