Governor Alia has reinstated the Attorney General who was previously suspended
Governor Hyacinth Alia of Benue State has reinstated Fidelis Mnyim, the Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice and Public Order, after previously suspending him on October 23. The suspension was due to Mnyim’s decision to involve Benue State in a lawsuit challenging the legality of the EFCC and ICPC without prior approval.
The announcement was made during a State Executive Council meeting in Makurdi, with Chief Press Secretary Sir Tersoo Kula providing updates. Mnyim was reinstated after he withdrew Benue from the legal proceedings, meeting the conditions for his return.
The council also approved significant measures, including N30.2 billion in funding for rural road construction across three senatorial zones, and N567 million as compensation for landowners in Makurdi for a federal housing project. Other resolutions included plans to domesticate the Disability Act, a donation of N10 million to the Nigerian Legion for Armed Forces Remembrance Day, and the establishment of a state signage and advertisement agency. The council paid tribute to the late Chief of Army Staff, Lt. Gen. Taoreed Lagbaja, with a minute of silence.
