Ajumbe: ANPP Bloc Deserves 2031 Presidency Based on APC’s Power Rotation Pattern
Professor Vitalis Ajumbe, National Coordinator of the Association of Former Members of the defunct All Nigeria People’s Party (ANPP), has reiterated the group’s call for the 2031 presidential ticket, citing internal equity within the All Progressives Congress (APC) power-sharing structure.
In a recent YouTube video, Ajumbe traced the leadership rotation among the APC’s founding blocs. He stated that the Congress for Progressive Change (CPC) led with Muhammadu Buhari’s eight-year presidency, followed by the Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN), which produced the current president, Bola Tinubu.
According to Ajumbe, it is now the ANPP’s rightful turn to produce the next presidential candidate under the APC umbrella. “The CPC took the first shot through Buhari. He ruled for eight years. The second one was taken by Tinubu, our present president, from the ACN. Naturally, the third slot should go to our bloc,” he said.
He added that the ANPP’s strong roots in northern Nigeria make its 2031 bid both logical and aligned with calls for the presidency to return to the North. Ajumbe described the anticipated transition as strategic, reflecting the original understanding of balance when the APC was formed. “It’s going to be interesting, going to the North… it will go to the North actually, and all of that,” he concluded.
