Ahmad Lawan Visits Buhari as 2027 Presidential Consultations Begin
Former Senate President Ahmad Lawan has initiated political consultations ahead of the 2027 presidential elections, beginning with a visit to former President Muhammadu Buhari at his residence in Daura, Katsina State.
Lawan, who represents Yobe North under the All Progressives Congress (APC), met with Buhari on Wednesday, where they discussed national and political matters.
According to a statement from Lawan’s Media Adviser, Ezrel Tabiowo, the senator arrived at Buhari’s residence at 12:40 PM and was warmly welcomed. Lawan conveyed greetings from his constituents and family while expressing gratitude to the former president for his leadership during his tenure and his continued contributions to Nigeria’s progress.
“Senator Lawan thanked Buhari for his exemplary leadership from May 2015 to May 2023 and for his ongoing commitment to Nigeria’s development,” the statement read.
In response, Buhari expressed his appreciation for Lawan’s visit and his unwavering support. He also praised the senator’s significant contributions to Nigeria’s political landscape.
The meeting is seen as part of early political realignments and consultations in preparation for the 2027 elections.
