There Was One thing Obi Stated After Tinubu Was Declared Winner That Offers Obidients Hope – Prof Jibrin
With barely a week to the swearing-in ceremony of the All Progressives Congress (APC) flag bearer and President-elect, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu as the 16th Commander-in-Chief of the Federal Republic, renowned Professor of Political Science, Jibrin Ibrahim has attributed the calmness of the Obidients to a statement made by their presidential candidate, Peter Gregory Obi shortly after the election results were announced and INEC declared a winner.
While speaking during an interview on ARISE TV’s ‘Prime Time’ with Charles Aniagolu a few hours ago, Prof Jibrin, who is also the Chairman, Board Of Trustees of the Premium Times Newspaper, explained that in Obi’s first post-election remarks, the Labour Party candidate had reminded his followers that most of his political career has been spent in the courts and that he has always gotten favorable judgments.
According to Prof Jibrin, this statement made by the former Anambra Governor did not only succeed in calming his millions of supporters in the Obidient Movement, but it has also given them a glimmer of hope even though Tinubu will be sworn into office as president on May 29.
He said; “I think if you recall the very first press conference after the declaration of results, there was something Peter Obi said during that conference. He made it categorically clear that he is a veteran in reclaiming stolen mandates through the courts and that this is what was going to happen again.
That was actually a very good move on his part because it calmed his people down and it gave them some confidence and a lot of them have continued to look to the adjudication process with hope, regardless of the fact that the declared winner of that election will be sworn into office in a few days from now. So, the Obidients, as it were, have kept their eyes on the Judiciary with some level of hope that the decision will swing in their favor.”
