Now That Fubara Has Gone To Meet Tinubu And Nyesom Wike, Did Ijaw Nation Collapse?&Quot; – Ex-Governorship Candidate Udengs Eradiri Reacts

Former Bayelsa State governorship candidate, Udengs Eradiri, has responded to the heated discussions surrounding Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara’s reported meeting with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in London. In a strongly worded post shared on his official X (formerly Twitter) account, Eradiri criticized attempts to frame the political tension in Rivers State as an ethnic crisis within the Ijaw nation.

The controversy began after PUNCH reported that Governor Fubara allegedly met privately with President Tinubu abroad. The meeting was said to focus on resolving the ongoing political turmoil in Rivers State, including speculated talks of a possible state of emergency. While there has been no official confirmation from the governor’s office, the report triggered a wave of reactions across the Niger Delta and beyond.

Amid the speculation, Eradiri—who ran for governor of Bayelsa under the Labour Party—stepped in to challenge the narrative being pushed by some factions online. He criticized those who, according to him, are trying to twist a political matter into an ethnic issue to serve their own agendas.

In a sarcastic but pointed comment, Eradiri wrote: “Has Ijaw Nation collapsed since Sim left to meet with BAT and Wike? You people attempted to use a social media politician to turn a political dispute into one between two people who have more secrets to share than you do.”

His remarks called for calm and a more rational approach to the unfolding political events, urging people not to allow social media narratives to fuel unnecessary division within the Ijaw community.
