Tinubu Shifts Focus to South-East and South-South Amid Waning North-West Support – Okorie

Chekwas Okorie, founder of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), has shared his thoughts on the shifting political strategies of President Bola Tinubu ahead of the 2027 elections. In a recent interview, Okorie suggested that the President may be losing ground in the North-West, a region that played a key role in his rise to power.
According to Okorie, Tinubu is now turning his attention towards the South-East and South-South regions in an effort to broaden his political base. Citing a Vanguard report, he pointed out that this shift is expected to have a significant impact on the Anambra State governorship election.
He explained that the All Progressives Congress (APC), led by Tinubu, is likely to throw its weight behind its candidate in Anambra, aiming not just to win but to gain a stronger political foothold in the region ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Okorie also raised concerns about APGA’s internal issues, noting that the party is under pressure not just from within but also from the strategic moves of the APC and Labour Party. He described the political landscape in Anambra as highly competitive, with APGA, APC, and Labour Party all vying for dominance—especially with Peter Obi maintaining strong influence in his home state.
Okorie warned that APGA’s future could be at risk if the party fails to resolve its internal disputes. He urged party leaders to act swiftly to preserve their relevance and competitiveness in the state.
