Barr Monday Ubani – ‘The Tribunal Judge Who Declared Oyetola As Winner Saw The Case Differently’

The Tribunal Judge who ruled over the first 2022 Osun governorship election had ruled that the former governor, Gboyega Oyetola had won the Osun election after substantiating a case of overvoting in the election.

However, the two other Apex courts which is the appeal court and the Supreme Court have overruled the judgment made by the Tribunal. A Former Vice President of the Nigerian Bar Association, Barrister Monday Ubani has alleged that the Tribunal judge has shown that he’s human after all. 

He stated however that the judge must have looked at the case quite differently based on what was presented before the court. He argued that this why the higher courts of legal jurisprudence are available to checkmate any wrong decision made by the lower court. 

He said, ”Now let me say this, the tribunal judge who declared the former governor Gboyega Oyetola as winner saw the case differently.

And they are human beings, it means that the judicial process is also manned by Human beings who are with flesh and blood, they are not angels and so they can make mistakes. And that is why it is better not to look on one step, look at other decisions to see whether it tallies with the law.”
