Wizkid and Others Applaud Olamide Amid Rumored Rift with Asake
On December 26, 2024, pop star Wizkid sparked attention with a rare social media post expressing love for Olamide, also known as Baddo. Wizkid’s tweet, “Love baddo! 4 L (for life) tin,” caught significant interest, especially amidst rumors of a fallout between Olamide and his star artist, Asake. Many interpreted Wizkid’s message as a show of solidarity with Olamide, though this interpretation remains speculative.
Earlier that day, Asake had fueled speculation by deleting most of his Instagram posts, removing “YBNL” (his record label) from his profile, and unfollowing Olamide. While neither party has made an official statement, these actions stirred debates and theories online. Olamide later responded to Wizkid’s tweet with, “Eleniyan! Love always brother,” further fueling public interest.
Reports suggest that Asake’s contract with YBNL, which began in February 2022, may have expired, and he opted not to renew it. According to PM News, Olamide had offered a new deal, but Asake allegedly chose to pursue independence. Previously, Asake had spoken highly of Olamide, recounting how he begged for two years before Olamide offered him a life-changing record deal.
Social media personalities weighed in on the matter. Oyemykke urged both parties to reconcile, emphasizing their mutual benefit. He advised YBNL to ease contractual terms and allow Asake to grow independently while maintaining their relationship. Daniel Regha, on the other hand, argued that Asake’s fanbase heavily relies on Olamide’s influence and that leaving YBNL prematurely could hurt his career. Naijashimadun described the alleged fallout as a “family case,” urging Asake to reconcile with Olamide privately.
Adding to the conversation, controversial artist Dammy Krane defended Asake, hinting at alleged issues with Olamide. He posted a screenshot of a conversation suggesting a business disagreement with Olamide, adding another layer to the ongoing drama.
Interestingly, this isn’t the first time Asake has removed “YBNL” from his profile; he did so in June 2024, causing similar reactions. As the controversy unfolds, fans and pundits eagerly await clarification or resolution from the artists involved.
